Alternative data for capital markets, such as satellite imagery, logistics data, and social media feeds, has been getting a lot of attention recently. Like any trending topic, its uses and benefits can be hyped up a bit but if the right plumbing and creativity is in place, those benefits can be realized.
In this webinar, Cloudera, Arcadia Data, and Greenwich Associates will discuss:
Richard Harmon is Cloudera’s Financial Services Industry Leader based in London. Richard holds a PhD in Economics with specialization in Econometrics from Georgetown University. Richard’s focus has been leveraging unique data sources and advanced analytics to develop innovative solutions: A National Mortgage Application Index at JPMorgan, a Text Mining solution for mixed-data Credit Default modeling and a consumer-based market risk score, called PreTell, that blended loan level data with property record, demographic and credit data covering 97% of all US households.
Richard started his post-academic career at the US-FED followed by leading fixed income research teams at Citibank, Bankers Trust, JP Morgan and Bank of America. He is the co-founder of a GMAC funded start-up called Risk Monitors which was acquired by BlackRock where he was an MD & Partner in the Risk Management Group. Richard left Blackrock to start and manage the North American business for Norkom Technologies which was later sold to BAE systems. For the past six years Richard has been the Director, EMEA Capital Markets at SAP, where he helped drive the business across the EMEA region.
